Privacy & Cookie Policy –
The Friendly, All-in-One Edition
Last updated: 14 August 2025
Hi! This is the all the important legal stuff page. I’ve rolled everything into one so you don’t have to click around, and I promise to make it as painless as possible.
Quick Snapshot (Because Nobody Reads the Whole Thing)
-
I only collect info I need to run this site and make it better.
-
I don’t sell your info, share it with random strangers, or do anything shady.
-
Cookies here are the tech kind, not the chocolate chip kind (sadly).
-
You can ask me what info I have about you, or ask me to delete it.
-
Other websites embedded here might track you too — check their policies.
The Longer Version (For Those Who Like Details)
Who We Are
This site is owned and run by Amy Chapman.

What Data I Collect & Why
Comments
When you leave a comment, I collect what you type in the form, plus your IP address and browser info to help stop spam.
If you use Gravatar, an anonymized (hashed) version of your email is sent to see if you have an avatar. Their privacy policy is here: https://automattic.com/privacy/
Once approved, your comment and avatar will appear publicly.
Media
If you upload images, please don’t include location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors could download the image and see exactly where it was taken.
Cookies – The Tech Kind
Cookies are small files that make the site remember stuff:
- Your name/email for comments so you don’t have to retype it
- Login details (if you have an account here)
- Your display settings
Some cookies disappear when you close your browser; others stick around for a while. You can clear them anytime in your browser settings.
Why This Site Uses Cookies
- To keep things running smoothly (essential cookies)
- To remember your settings (functional cookies)
- To understand how visitors use the site (analytics cookies)
- To show content from other places (third-party cookies)
Embedded Content from Other Sites
I sometimes share videos, images, or articles from other websites. When you interact with that content, those sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your activity — just like if you visited their site directly.
Who I Share Your Data With
The only automatic sharing: if you request a password reset, your IP address will be in the reset email. Otherwise, I don’t hand over your personal info unless required by law.
How Long I Keep Your Data
- Comments: kept indefinitely so I can recognize follow-ups automatically.
- Registered users: data stays until you delete your profile or ask me to remove it.
Your Rights
You can:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data I have about you.
- Ask me to delete it (unless I legally have to keep it).
- To make a request, email: amy@amychapman.org
Spam Protection
Visitor comments may go through an automated spam detection service.
Managing Your Cookie Settings
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- If you block certain cookies, some parts of the site may not work as intended.
